think3 offers 2D translators for DWG, DXF, IGES and GBG Draftmaker formats, as well as 3D translators for IGES, STEP, STL, VDA, VRML, WaveFront and IV formats, the neutral format of ThinkDesign and ASCII. Other think3 translation platforms (purchased separately) support most of the proprietary 3D formats as well as the bidirectional conversion of Catia V5, Pro/E and Parasolid files. The bidirectional converter for Catia V4 files is also available (2D included).

think3 offers full AutoCAD compatibility: 2D drawings can be imported in ThinkDesign Engineering, modified and reused as native designs.

ThinkDesign Engineering combines advanced translation functionality and a modern and comprehensive design architecture. DXF/DWG translators ensure the integrity of AutoCAD entities and support imported data.

ThinkDesign Suite offers unsurpassed modeling capabilities that allow a perfect integration of tools for 2D, curves, solids and surfaces. It is possible to use and to switch between both modeling techniques in very natural way.

User can create not only a model with different approach, but the entire project can be realized thanks to perfect integration between environments in which he find all tools and without need to switch from one to another. He can simply choose to work in 2D, in 3D parametric and static, with surfaces and solids, and even more in hybrid approach. Different approach available doesn’t stress user and doesn’t reduce his creativity: it multiplies it! ThinkDesign overcomes limits of single approach and it isn’t a prototype, it is a real and working product that, version after version, increases its capabilities.

ThinkDesign Suite’s integrated design environment ensures full 2D/3D/PDM transparency and does not require expensive interfaces for the migration from 2D to 3D.

ThinkDesign Suite offers optimized and interoperable 2D and 3D environments that are fully integrated in thinkPLM, think3’s Product Lifecycle Management application suite. Companies can then preserve and modify existing 2D data, securing their original investment and preventing the risks associated to the migration from one design platform to another.

PLM stands for Product Lifecycle Management.

This term designates a corporate strategy whose goal is to structure, secure, share product design and manufacturing know-how. The PLM relies on information systems including IT solutions as varied as the CAD, PDM, calculation, digital simulation, CAM.

think3 PLM suites are powerful PDM solutions which offer advanced feature for product developer and chain management, workflow and approval process. think3's PLM system can also be interfaced with most CAD and ERP/MRP solutions available on the market.

The ERP supports operations, the PLM manages innovation.

Typically, the PLM approach requires a connection with the ERP.

think3 PLM suites interface with ERPs enable you to considerably reduce time to market by automating the BOM and part number transfers and the filling of item sheets, retracing change logs for the customer service by enabling you to calculate production costs during the design phase, etc.

All the company departments are concerned by the implementation of a PLM strategy, but at different levels.

Thus, the Design Department is generally the first one to face issues concerning the need for collaborative work and diffusion of CAD drawings. This PDM area can then be widened to Methods, Projects, Quality, Maintenance teams in order to create a real product information system, backbone of the company's know-how!

PLM’s clients include manufacturing companies, industrial machinery/mechanical component design (like engineering components, packaging machine, power generation & transmission, tooling machine, automatic machinery in general, motor vehicle parts, etc). Generally, its clients are leaders in their respective fields who employ a number of based marketing strategies that utilize PLM’s core competencies.
